Review of the movie Gaslight: Vikrant Massey, who can usually be counted on to get us to look, and Sara Ali Khan, who needs a job with substance, make little of an impression in this movie that fails to amp up the dread.
Dark visions plague a young woman who returns to the Rajasthani “haveli” where she spent her youth after a lengthy absence. She is not being greeted by her father. The days pass with no sign of him. Ghostly figures dart behind closed doors, and the only sign of life is a gas lantern left on the floor, blinking. Things happen in the dark. And whenever Meesha (Sara Ali Khan) tries to discuss these terrifying incidents with the seductive siren (Chitrangada Singh), who is firmly established in the house, she is persuaded that she is dreaming things.
