Kangana Ranaut shared a video where she requested fans to watch her latest film Tejas. It released in theatres on October 27
Currently showing in theatres is Kangana Ranaut’s Tejas. The actor posted a video on social media on Saturday, urging viewers to “watch films in theatres” and predicting that they would enjoy her film Tejas if they had enjoyed Uri, Mary Kom, and Neerja.
In a video that she posted, Kangana addressed the camera directly and stated in Hindi, “Hey guys, my movie Tejas came out yesterday. I hope you all enjoyed it.” Everyone who has watched this movie has been very grateful and blessed us. However, friends, the Hindi cinema industry has not yet recovered from the Covid-19 pandemic. The public doesn’t even give 99% of films a chance. I am aware that nearly everyone in the modern world owns a TV and a cell phone. However, collective watching in theatres has played a significant role in our culture since its inception. Folklore, dance, and the arts in general are all vital. Therefore, I humbly ask the Hindi film audience—especially those who watch it at multiplexes—to consider Tejas if they enjoyed Uri, Mary Kom, and Neerja.”
Online responses
Numerous people responded to Kangana’s note on the platform. Someone stated, “People are going to the theatres to watch films or else films like Gadar 2, Rocky Aur Rani ki Prem Kahaani, Pathaan, and Jawan would’ve flopped.” A another individual said, “Have you ever considered that maybe YOU are the problem?” Another observation was made, “There is a poetic justice for a person who was the poster girl for starting boycott trend against the whole Bollywood is now crying that people are not coming to theatre.”
On its first day of release, Tejas was met with a lacklustre reception at the box office. Sacnilk.com provided early estimates of the film’s first day of release collection, which came to ₹1.25 crore. Sarvesh Mewara wrote the screenplay, directed the movie, while Ronnie Screwvala handled production. Additionally starring are Anshul Chauhan, Mohan Agashe, Rio Kapadia, Ashish Vidyarthi, Ashish Vidyarthi, Vishak Nair, Kashyap Shangari, Sunit Tandon, and Mushtaq Kak.
